Mindful Life Retreat
29 Oct – 2 Nov 2018
(5 day retreat)
Mindfulness is a powerful and effective way to develop self-knowledge and wisdom, and is strongly correlated with greater wellbeing. Put simply, it helps you cope with everyday life and deal with tough times!
Mindfulness is a mental state that comes with focusing your awareness on the present moment. This can be easily achieved through a range of techniques that can be tailored to each individual’s life experience.
“We are happiest when we are mindful, in the moment and least happy when our minds are wandering from the current activity. Happiness has less to do with what we are doing and more to do with being fully engaged in the moment.” Harvard researcher Matt Killingsdworth
Retreat Performance Coach
Stephanie Bown is an accomplished performance coach who has spent the past 10 years helping some of Australia’s high-level employers achieve exceptional results by developing exceptional leaders.
Bringing together a potent mix of positive psychology, neuroscience, organisation dynamics and diagnostic tools allows Stephanie to develop keen insights and a pragmatic approach to the people and organisations she works with.
Stephanie and her husband Clinton founded workwellgroup in 2015 with a mission to deliver life changing learning experiences that promote wellbeing. Through retreats, workshops and one-on-one’s, Stephanie works closely with individuals and their teams to help people find greater alignment, clarity and commitment for their life’s mission.
Stephanie has a deep appreciation for the principles and practices of mindful living and leadership. In December of 2015, she relocated her family from Melbourne to Byron Bay to proactively foster a life closely connected to nature, community, and creative expression. Genuinely living what she preaches, she has a passion for learning and every year invests in her personal and professional development so that she may continually share fresh insights and new ideas with her clients.
Retreat Yoga & Meditation Teacher
Byron Bay is the centre for yoga, mindfulness and wellbeing in Australia and Kirsty Nugent is one of its most respected teachers, having practiced and taught yoga and meditation for 30 years.
Ten years ago, Kirsty was at the top of the advertising and marketing industry when she shifted from corporate life to becoming a fulltime yoga teacher. Yoga had helped her recover from physical injuries sustained when she was a member of Canada’s national gymnastics team, and alleviate the mental stress sustained through high-pressure corporate roles and international moves.
Experiencing first-hand the life-changing benefits yoga and mindfulness brings to life, Kirsty understands the issues we face on a daily basis and has an extensive tool box of training and experience to draw upon to help you find ease in the body and mind.
To date, Kirsty has completed over 2,000 hours of teacher training across a diverse range of styles with a foundation in traditional Iyengar and Ashtanga practice. She is a mindfulness coach and Yoga Nidra specialist and has trained directly with master teachers worldwide.
This place is special. The beaches, the weather, the organic produce, and the connection to nature.
It also has historical significance as a place of healing and fertility. The local ArakwalAboriginal people’s name for Byron Bay is Cavvanbah, which translates to “meeting place”. It’s here that tribes from across the Bundjalung Nation would meet at sacred sites in times of sickness, to learn from elders and rejuvenate in the healing properties of the area.
We celebrate our link to this ancient past with a Welcome to Country ceremony on our first night.
The Mindful Life retreat gives you the opportunity to fine tune the mind and body connection with leading experts in psychology, yoga, mindfulness and healthy living. The retreat will benefit anyone who craves some time out in a beautiful, natural environment whilst nourishing the body with healthy, delicious food. We will introduce you to techniques that will help you find ease in the body and the mind, reconnect with your authentic self, and happily embrace the natural flow of life.
